Postponement of Tatwa Tantu Retreat

The retreat which was going to be held from March 9-14,2024 is now postponed to Sept 20-25,2024 at Vaidyagrama.

The retreat is about understanding the Pancha Bhutas or 5 elements.Our sense organs and the elements are interconnected and understanding that will bring greater rejuvenation of our sense organs.The retreat aims to bring a deeper understanding of this interconnectedness of the sense organs, to elements, temples, arts and knowledge systems.

By keeping an open mind, the retreat will help understand this interconnectedness of the inside with the outside world through the sense organs, and when we continue to practice with awareness, our sense organs are sharpened and the quality of life is improved.

Navagraha Puja at Vaidyagrama

Date: 10 Dec 2023 to 16 Dec 2023

A puja for the 7 Planets, Rahu and Ketu were performed at Vaidyagrama. It is called a samaradhana, which means a worship of the planet of the day in different ways. A beautiful mandala is drawn depicting the planet and the associated worshipful deities. A homam or fire sacrifice is performed along with the puja for the planet. The pujas were performed by Shri Praveen Namboodiri and team of 7 priests from Kerala.

Not only the planet but all energy sources related to the planet, whatever the planet represents is worshipped. First day, on sunday Sun is worshipped. He is the father, Moon is the mother, Mercury is the Son, Mars is the security, Intellectual Guru is Jupiter, Guru for our family life is Venus, Saturn is the servant. If we take this example for country- King is Sun, Queen is Moon, Prince is Mercury, Chief security is Mars. Guru is Jupiter, the Guru for trade business etc is Venus and their servant or soldier is Saturn.

The pattern of the puja is:

Ganapathi Homam, Panchanga Namaskaram ( touching the ground and prostrating) , Homam, Puja for each planet, Pradakshina ( or Parikrama or circumambulation) , Namaskaram( Prostration) , Tharpanam ( Offering water mixed with herbs to the ancestors ) , Vastradharanam ( Wearing clothes depicting the colours of the planet, like orange or red for sun, white for moon etc ) , Oushadha Snanam ( Bathing with herb infused water) , Pushpa Dharanam ( wearing flowers in the hair) , Devatha Bhajanam ( singing hymns of God) , Prasadam ( Sweets offered to God) . Vishista Vandanam ( A series of Namaskars for the planet as well as the related energies ) , Music, Cow puja, Tree puja etc.

In the evening a puja for the Goddess was also performed, a beautiful mandala of the face of Devi was drawn and puja performed and Lalitha Sahasranamam was chanted, flowers, prasadam were offered to the goddess.
These pujas were repeated on all the 7 days from 10 Dec to 16 Dec 2023.

Trikala Puja

Date: 1 January 2024

Every Year on the 1st day of the year, a Trikala Puja is celebrated in Vaidyagrama. Trikala- Tri means three and Kala means times- means pujas performed at three times of the day. Early morning, Afternoon and evening [pujas are performed to the Goddess.
The puja was performed by Shri Govind Namboodiri.

Foundation Day celebration of Punarnava Ayurveda

Date: 8th January 2024

20th year foundation day of Punarnava Ayurveda was celebrated on January 8th 2024, with much joy by all the staff and well wishers of Punarnava.

The day started with a Ganapathi homam, Mrithyunjaya homam performed by Priest Madhu Namboodiri and team at Vaidyeswaram. A free Ayurveda Medical camp and Community Lunch was organized which was attended by many villagers and all Annam Beneficiaries. All the villagers who attended the camp were gifted with a sweater, which was a very timely gift in the cold winter month of January. A sumptuous meal was also served to the villagers. Besides the villagers, all the well wishers of Punarnava family were invited to be present for the lunch and were given gifts thanking them for their participation, prayers and support which helped Punarnava Ayurveda in reaching the place where it stood with 250 staff, a 60 room hospital, 40 acres of land, the eco friendly, green space converted from a dry and barren land using water conservation, rain water harvesting, tree plantation etc. 350 students from local government high school got T shirts from Punarnava for the foundation day.

Maattu Pongal Celebration at Vaidyeswaram

Date: 16 January 2024

Pongal is the harvest festival of Tamilnadu. This festival starts with Bhogi- the first of the 4 day Pongal festival. On this day, the houses are cleaned and decorated for the forthcoming harvest festival. Lord Indra or the rain god is worshipped on this day. The second day is Pongal- when Sun god is worshipped, the Third day is Maatu Pongal when cattle is worshipped, and the fourth day is Farmers day- when the farmer who is also involved in the making of the good harvest is worshipped.

Sarpabali at Vaidyagrama

Date: 16 January 2024

A Puja to worship the living beings on earth depicted by Sarpa or snake was performed at Vaidyeswaram, on 16th January 2024. This puja is performed every year after the foundation day function. The Puja was performed by Priest Pathirikunnath Krishnan Namboodiri.It is a very powerful puja performed to alleviate Sarpa dosha, or effects due to influence of serpent planets Rahu and Ketu in one’s life.

Activities of Trust in December- January 2024

  • Free Ayurveda Medical Camp and Community lunch : 2 Dec 2024

As is done every month, Punarnava Ayurveda Trust conducted free Ayurveda medical camp and communtiy lunch on 2 Dec 2023 at Rangasamudram where 79 patients got free medicines and 150 villagers had the sumptuous meal lovingly prepared by the trust .

  • Evening Snacks distribution for HIgh School Students of Pichanur High School

From January 2024, Punarnava Ayurveda Trust, at the request of the Head Mistress of the local Pichanur High School started distributing, an evening snack to 200 students studying in class X, XI, and XII who have special class from 4 pm to 5.30 pm.

  • Natural farming at Punarnava grounds

Natural organic farming is done at the grounds belonging to the trust. Around 30 varieties of vegetables and fruits are grown here, which are used in the Patient kitchen, staff kitchen and the trust kitchen. For the Annadanam, nearly 80% of the vegetables are grown onsite and for the other kitchens around 40% vegetables are grown onsite.

  • Cow based products at Punarnava

Lakshmigrama goshala has 40 indigenous cows. The cow dung, cow urine along with milk, curd and ghee are used to make Panchagavya which is added to soaps, shampoos, floor cleaner, bio fertilisers, Vibhooti ( holy ash), Dhoop Bhathi,( to ward off mosquitoes), Dhoop Varti ( used as inhalers ), Panchagavyam lamps ( effective as the smoke during agnihotra with healing properties ) etc.

  • Dignitaries Visit

Dr Vasant Lad is a world renowned Ayurveda Physician, Author of several books, Teacher and Visionary. He visited Vaidyagrama on 23 Dec 2023. It was a blessed evening for Vaidyagrama family, as there was a special satsang with Dr Vasant Lad about Awareness, Positive seeking and Being.
